I've also discovered another artist named Simon Goinard. His work really caught my eye and got me interested in trying to mimic the brush strokes in Photoshop. I suspect next week I'm going to be experimenting even more and painting more.

Summer Challenge - Week 2
Okay so there were some hits and misses this week. Probably the most notable thing is no skeletons. I honestly think I burned myself out that first week. But on a happier note, I've discovered some things about painting in Photoshop with some custom brushes that I've made to try and mimic traditional media. I know there are other programs like Painter and ArtRage that are better for that kind of thing, but Photoshop is just much faster for me, and I already know it pretty well. I think it'll be obvious where the jump in painting occurred. I also managed to accidentally make a brush that mimics ink when used in the right way. :D

Summer Challenge - Week 1
So this is the 1st week that I'm posting for the summer challenge that I set upon myself. I wasn't able to follow strictly to the tasks I set, but then again I was expecting that. There were some days where I just wasn't in the mood to draw. Of course I would draw, but I may skip on a task if I didn't feel like doing it, or just draw more of something else. But with all that said, I made a surprising amount of drawings that I wouldn't normally do and made some that I'm really proud of.
I couldn't get to doing some observation drawings this week, so I will try to start off with that instead of leaving it to the end.
Anyway, here is the work I have produced this week.
I think that I will try and work with color for the figure drawings. Black and white is great, but its getting a little boring for me. I will also concentrate more on doing some individual studies of the bones so that I can make them more organic rather than making them blocky like have here. It looks great in terms of knowing what the form is doing, but I think I'm ready to step it up. And of course, more observation drawings. I think I will actually try drawing with a pen for those. I haven't tried it before, and have always been intimidated by it because I can't erase. But I shall prevail! :D

Summer Challenge
So now that the first semester of TAD is done and I have a couple of months to kill, it would be a good idea for me to keep pushing with my art. So I decided to do a challenge for myself and give myself more than a few tasks everyday to keep my skills in check. I've picked out a few things that I want to concentrate on while I have the time. This is going to be the schedule:
- 5 composition studies a day
- 1 figure study a day
- 1 perspective drawing analysis drawing a day
- 1 skeleton drawing a day
- 2 observation drawings per week
That seems like a lot to do in one day, but a lot of these don't really take that long to do. And I'm already predicting I will miss a day or two just because....well life happens. I will try my best to update every week with as much stuff as I can. If I can pull this off and not miss a day, I will have a huge amount of work in 2 months time.
