Figure Drawings 1

So here is a compilation of today's drawings. Some figure work. It's been awhile since I've drawn standing up and using my whole arm to draw, so I'm rusty at the moment as you can tell in the beginning. Normally I do medium sized drawings and I rest my arm on the paper, pivoting on my elbow, but since I'm working differently here, it'll take some getting used to. I also recently bought Henry Yan's book on figure drawing and I'm taking his approach in terms of practice to just fill up the page as much as I can. Doing it this way elevates some stress about trying to make a perfect drawing and it tells you that this is just practice, and so far is working pretty well. As the drawings progressed I became looser and drawing became easier.

Winter Challenge

So last summer I attempted to keep myself busy and set goals for myself to keep my doing art. Unfortunately  I set them a little too high and I got burnt out by the 4th week. So this time, to try and prevent this, I will set a more general goals, but geared towards specific areas. These areas will include figure drawing/rendering, illustrations, and painting studies. I won't set a specific number to reach every week as that was my downfall before, so this time I'm just going to do as many as I can, and update as soon as the piece is done. Hopefully this looser work routine will keep me motivated and not feeling burnt out.

2nd Semester DONE!

So the second semester is done and I can post a few things I've done during school. Some illustrations done for Composition 2, cast drawing, some anatomy studies, and a comic book based on Winsor Mcay's Little Nemo, done for visual narrative. If you want to view the comic pages more closely, just right click on it > open image in new tab or window and you can zoom in to see the detail and dialogue.
